What is your favorite part about working at Guardian Self Storage?

The people I meet and the stories I get to hear.  There are so many reasons why someone might need storage. Some more common then others. Without a doubt, being able to work with different people from different walks of life make the job very rewarding.

In your opinion, what sets Guardian apart from all of the other self-storage companies out there?

Our high level of customer service and professional. We care enough to take the time to make sure our customers are given the attention they deserve.

What are some of the most interesting things you’ve seen stored?

Guinness once donated a truckload of beer to a customer. It was around 10-12 pallets. We thought it was a crank call. Oh… and the guy with the dolls.

At the location(s) you work at, what are the types of units that people rent the most?

No size or type in particular. Sofas, cars, books, winter coats. Anywhere between a 5×5 to a 10×30.

Tell us more about you; what are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?

Depending on the time of year, I enjoy riding my mountain bike. I spend a bit of time hiking and camping as well. I like to keep active.

What type of advice would you give someone who has never stored anything before and is trying to decide what type of unit to use and how to pack their unit?

Type of unit would depend on what is being stored. Anything temperature sensitive should be stored in a temperature controlled unit. Like wine, antique furniture, or old photos. Its very important to view a unit. I cant tell you how many times someone wants to take a look at a 5×5, and once the door goes up, they just have this look of surprise because they are expecting something bigger.

Do you have a favorite customer?

I have many. No favorites.

What is the longest you have ever worked with a customer before getting them into a storage unit?

Once I worked with a customer about 10 minutes. It took about 8 minutes to get them to the unit, and 2 minutes to get them into it and shut the door. Could be up to a year or more. Circumstances change. Closings fall through. Its always good to follow up with people. Things change.

What has been your most heartfelt experience at Guardian Self Storage?

There has been a few over the years.  From apartment fires to hurricanes bringing massive floods. These were all unexpected circumstances. The loss these families had was tragic. Some things can’t be replaced. I was truly touched and felt the sorrow.
