Warm winter coats are needed, now more than ever! Guardian Self Storage has held an annual coat drive for the past 25 years, and this year’s coat drive will be bigger and better than ever. In 2020, there is a larger need for donated coats due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. To fill the growing need, iHeartRadio has partnered with Guardian Self Storage, and several other local businesses have joined this community project with the mission of keeping people in our local communities warm this winter. Rotary International District 7210 will also be aiding in the effort. The coats will be distributed to those in need by Dutchess Outreach, Catholic Charities and The People’s Place.

The coat drive will be held from October 1st through November 30th. You can drop off new or gently used clean winter coats at all of the fourteen Guardian Self Storage locations, all locations of Rhinebeck Bank, Red Cap Cleaners, and the Pleasant Valley Library. All locations of Ulster Savings Bank will accept coats starting on November 1st. Safety precautions are in place due to the current pandemic. Only freshly washed or dry cleaned coats will be accepted. Children’s coats are especially needed, although every coat collected is appreciated, and will help families and individuals in need. New gloves, hats and scarves are also welcome. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing when dropping off coats to keep everyone safe.

Monetary donations will be accepted at all Guardian Self Storage locations, just look for the Coat Drive drop box. You can also donate online at iHeart.com or DutchessOutreach.com. Every donation helps those in need.

Guardian Self Storage would like to thank the community and local businesses for past contributions. In 2019, during the twenty-fifth year of the drive, over 8,000 coats were collected. Please help make this year a huge success once again. Your donations are especially important during this challenging time. You will be making a real difference for families in your community this winter. All of the collected coats will be distributed for free this fall in Dutchess, Ulster and Orange counties through various local organizations. Social distancing and mandatory mask wearing will be implemented during distributions for everyone’s safety.

Guardian Self Storage has been giving back to the community for over 33 years. Each year, during the month of June, Guardian also holds a food drive, collecting non-perishable food through Dutchess Outreach and The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. All donated food stays local. Many Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, as well as numerous other organizations in the Hudson Valley pull together each year to help make this drive a success, working together to combat hunger in the Hudson Valley.

For more information call Dutchess Outreach at 845-454-3792. Both monetary donations and donations of new or clean gently used winter coats are greatly appreciated.
